About Plastic waste

For every pair of these socks you purchase, you remove 1kg of plastic waste from the oceans.

How does it work?

We collaborate with organizations dedicated to cleaning up the oceans. Every month, we pay these organizations to collect and recycle plastic waste, as well as cover the costs of the work involved.

This approach is much more effective, as cleaning the oceans is a complex process that requires experience and expensive equipment like boats and machinery. That's why we decided to leave this part to the experts, while we focus on our goal of creating the best socks with a positive impact on the planet.

The Plastic Waste Cleanup Process:

In addition to removing or collecting plastic waste, the entire process is taken care of, which includes:

  • Recycling
  • Purchasing equipment
  • Machinery maintenance
  • Wages for workers and ship captains
  • Research and development of new technologies and more efficient solutions
  • Monitoring
  • Reporting

Why is it important to clean up plastic waste from the oceans?

  • Over 380 million tons of plastic waste are produced globally every year.
  • 8 million pieces of plastic waste end up in the oceans every day.
  • The Great Pacific Garbage Patch in the Pacific Ocean spans an area of a staggering 1.8 million square kilometers—equivalent to 22.8 times the size of the Czech Republic.
  • Only 9% of plastic waste is recycled.
  • Around 500 billion plastic bags are produced annually, with one plastic bag becoming waste every minute.
  • Plastic waste in the ocean increases at a rate equivalent to one full garbage truck per minute.
  • Globally, up to one trillion plastic bags are used each year—that's 160,000 per second.
